Exhibitor 2006 Report - Displayit® Event Marketing & Trade Show Newsletter

Exhibitor 2006, a trade show for trade show display professionals, saw record attendance and a number of new innovative products. Displayit was honored to be exhibiting at this year's show and we will discuss our exhibiting experience a little later in our newsletter, but first we would like to provide you with some information on what was hot at this year's show.

Fabric seems to be the buzz word in the industry once again this year. Many companies are providing fabric solutions to meet a variety of industry needs. There were large 20' x 20' exhibits created almost entirely from tension fabric as well as portable 10' x 10' tension fabric backwalls. In fact, Displayit used a tension fabric 10' x 10' display that was a huge hit. The use of fabric displays helps exhibitors to cut down on the weight and size of their exhibit shipment.

The next big buzz word at the show was ROI. Exhibitors are very focused right now on measuring the trade show ROI, or return on investment. Some new technology is helping to make this much easier. A number of new companies are offering software that allows exhibitors to manage their pre and post show marketing efforts as well as track their show leads more efficiently. In fact, one new software system allows exhibitors to send key prospects a device before the show that will notify the booth staff when that prospect is within range of the booth and it will also provide a customized marketing message to that prospect when they enter the booth. These are very exciting innovations.

We are very excited about the new products we saw at this year's show, please feel free to contact Mark Johnson, our Director of Sales and Services, or myself Josh Axelberd, Director of Operations to discuss the show in more detail.

Displayit® a hit at Exhibitor 2006

Exhibitor 2006 Report - Displayit® Event Marketing & Trade Show Newsletter

For the first time in March 2006, Displayit exhibited at Exhibitor 2006, a trade show for trade show professionals, and we wanted to share some of our experiences at the show. Hopefully these experiences and valuable lessons will make your next show an even bigger success.

Displayit specializes in providing portable modular trade show display solutions via our main internet website. We have primarily marketed these services via the internet and search marketing, but we figured it was time to expose our online brand to the trade show display community at Exhibitor 2006. The show was a great success and we will definitely be going back next year.

We began our show preparation in late November with the process to design the graphics for our main backdrop. We planned to use a 10' x 10' Tension Fabric display to help control our shipping and drayage costs as well as a light-weight SOLO counter. Our hope was to develop a graphic for our backwall that we could tie into a complete theme for the show. This would include using this basic graphic for our display, pre-show mailer, and our new business cards.

We developed the tag line, Your Exhibiting Future Is Here. We wanted to keep our concept simple and create a theme that would get people wondering and have them asking questions. It received a nice response from our prospects, although many were confused as to exactly what we did. Many people thought that our tension fabric display was our only product and that the tension fabric display was the “Exhibiting Future.” That is one of the challenges you face when you are at a trade show about trade shows, everyone thinks your display is your product. Nevertheless, we felt that our simple tag line was the right way to go since we were limited on exhibit space and time to explain our entire offerings. Our design process was a success because we allowed plenty of time(3 months+) to plan, create, and recreate our design.

One area that we feel we can improve on for next year is in our pre-show planning. We did produce a nice 6x9 postcard mailer, but we did very little to track the results of this mailer. Next year we plan to do another 6x9 postcard mailer but direct the prospect from that card to the internet where they can fill out a survey to discover a little more about the needs they may have. We also plan to offer this opportunity via e-mail as well. We will offer some type of incentive to encourage them to do this. Hopefully, this will help us to better track the success of our pre-show efforts as well identify any key prospects that we will make sure not to miss at the show. We also plan on exhibiting more interactive display items such as plasma screens with computers to demo our website. We used a laptop on the front counter, but this did not provide the full experience we wanted to show our prospects. Next year we plan on renting a large plasma monitor for the show.
